Anti-Christ | ↑ top
In short, anti-Christ means someone who was in Gods true church, had the truth of God dwelling/living in them by the power of God's Holy Spirit and then chose to reject God's way of life. They are “anti-Christ” because they will not allow Christ to live/dwell in them. Anti-Christ is not one person, nor does this refer to the Pope.

Answering questions - when asked | ↑ top
It is good to answer questions about the hope that lies within you when you are asked, but to push upon others what you have learned is not wise. As people see the growing evidence from the thunders and trumpets becoming stronger, then you too can also become stronger in explaining to others why such things are happening. Until then, simply answer questions when you are asked. When asked a question it is also good that you direct them to the book 2008 God's Final Witness (free at www.the-end.com) and/or to the Church of God-PKG website (www.cog-pkg.org).

At this point in time it is best that you focus on your own spiritual growth by being a student/disciple and learning as much as you can while you still have access to the truth, and in this manner you can grow in greater ability to better help others in the future.

Awakened Brethren (from WCG scattering) | ↑ top
It is exciting to see God working with those whom He is awakening and bringing back to His Church. But being highly weakened from being spiritually asleep (which all such individuals must come to acknowledge), there is much that such people must prove to themselves as they begin to work at catching up on all that has continued to be revealed by God since the time when they were spewed out of God's Church.

In order to be restored to the fellowship of the Church, all who were part of the scattering from the Worldwide Church of God will need to read the publications and listen to the sermons outlined below, if they are to fully prove to themselves all that God expects of them in order to come back into full unity and harmony with His Church.

Read the 2 booklets “Time Is Running Out” and “Time Has Run Out,” and the 2 books The Prophesied End-Time and 2008-God's Final Witness (especially Chapter 7).

Listen to the sermon series entitled, “The 50 Revealed Truths of God,” and the 2005 Feast of Tabernacles sermons. It would be good to also listen to "Feast of Trumpets 2008" (September 30, 2008), "Birth of a New Era" (November 29, 2008) and "A Transition in Eras" (December 6, 2008)

Also the sermons “Following God” (June 21, 2008) and “The 50th Truth” (June 28, 2008)

Once a person has read and listened to this material and believe he/she is in full unity and agreement, then a request for reinstated fellowship can be made.

Birthdays - Understanding | ↑ top
Due to the differing teachings of churches, there is often confusion about the observance of birthdays.

For many families, a birthday is a natural time to remember the beginning of someone's life. People naturally remember the date of their birth. There is nothing wrong with recognizing such important times, just as someone would remember important anniversaries (such as a marriage). Remembering such occasions and acknowledging them is natural and good. It is good to express (verbally or written in cards or letters) love and gratitude toward others. However, sometimes people have had a tendency to carry things too far when it comes to some matters of celebration.

Some people celebrate, and sin in doing so, when excessive alcohol is consumed or underage drinking has occurred. Matters of sexual immorality, drunkenness, and other improper conduct are sometimes associated with different kinds of celebrations. This is obviously wrong.

The only caution in the celebration of birthdays is that yearly parties should not be conducted for children (or even adults) where many are invited and often times gifts are expected to be given. Such celebrations that include a kind of "party" environment often teach the way of "get", selfishness, and unwarranted "expectations" from others. It is often better to recognize special milestones in life in "special ways" when more recognition is given than at other times. For example, a milestone at age 13 (a teenager), age 21, and later in life "the big 50," etc. This is similar to the spirit that might be involved in recognizing a 25th or 50th wedding anniversary. The milestones are different according to individuality and personal choice. There is no right or wrong in such matters.

There is nothing wrong with having a special meal or even a cake made for the special occasion of an anniversary. It is perfectly fine to participate in any celebration that expresses right standards. Such celebrations might include birthdays, anniversaries, national holidays and many personal occasions, such as celebrating a graduation. Such things are a matter of personal choice based on the spirit of the matter.

Book – 2008 God's Final Witness – inaccurate timeline
Some have questioned selected statements in the book 2008 God's Final Witness, believing they have found a contradiction. Most misunderstandings come when people have “read into” what was written. It is easy to read our own thoughts/ideas into what we believe we “see” when we are reading. It would be good to listen to the sermon entitled, “Three More Weeks” (March 29, 2008), as it addresses this subject matter.

Books – from other Religions | ↑ top
The Church of God-PKG teaches that only the Holy Bible is the genuine complete Word of God. The most accurately translated version into English is the King James Version, but many find it difficult to read because of the old English that is used in it. We, therefore, highly recommend the New King James Version that is translated into modern English.

The Bible tells us that all scripture is given by inspiration of God (2 Tim 3:16). God does not contradict Himself and He only works in and through those who are in His one and only true Church. We do not believe any religious books outside of the Bible or those written by anyone other than a true minister of God bear the mark of God's inspiration, preservation and authority. Any book that in any way contradicts the Bible should not be referred to for religious instruction.

Ronald Weinland has continually admonished people to keep focused and learn all that they can from what is posted on this site, since there is more material here than a person can learn in the time that is remaining.

Calendar - God's | ↑ top
God's calendar is completely different to the man-made Roman calendar. The Roman calendar is regulated by different calculations and uses names that God did not establish. God's calendar and Holy Days are calculated based on His word. One such example is Passover. It is ALWAYS held on the 14th of Nisan (Abib). When you overlay God's Holy Day dates against a roman calendar, you will find that God's Holy Days fall on a variety of dates on the Roman calendar. The actual dates for God's Holy Days are listed on the website by clicking onto the “Holy Days” tab.

God's days are listed as days one through seven as listed in Genesis 1.
The seventh day is called the Sabbath, which means "rest".
God's month's run from new moon to new moon (Is 66:23). One Hebrew word, cho'dhesh, is translated as "month" (Gen 7:11) and comes from a root meaning "new", while another word for month, ye'rach, means "lunation".

There are twelve months in the sacred calendar with an intercalary month added seven times in 19 years, generally as a second Adar (VEADAR) - 13th month.

1st - NISAN (ABIB)
2nd - IYYAR (ZIV)
3rd - SIVAN
4th - TAMMUZ
5th - AB
6th - ELUL
7th - TISHRI ( ETHANIM)
8th - HESHVAN (BUL)
9th - CHISLEV
10th - TEBETH
11th - SHEBAT
12th - ADAR

The secular calendar starts from Tishri. This means that the first month of the secular calendar runs parallel to the seventh month of the sacred calendar.

Calendar - Roman, the Origin of Names of the Month | ↑ top
The names of the months and their meanings are as follows:

JANUARY: Januarius, in honor of the Roman god, Janus.
FEBRUARY: Februarius, in honor of the Roman festival of general expiation and purification.
MARCH: Martius, in honor of the Roman God, Mars.
APRIL: Aprilis, which was derived from Aperio, a Latin verb meaning "to open". This is the month when the earth "opens" to produce new fruits.
MAY: Maius, in honor of the Greek goddess, Maia.
JUNE: Junius, in honor of the Roman goddess, Juno.
JULY: Julius, in honor of the Roman emperor, Julius Caesar.
AUGUST: Augusta, in honor of Roman emperor, Augustus Caesar.

The remaining months - September, October, November, December - are derived from the Latin words for the numerals 7, 8, 9 and 10. They were the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th months of the old Roman calendar

According to the Encyclopedia International article "Week", the days of the week are names for the sun, the moon, and five visible planets, all of which are associated with pagan deities. The names of the days of the week and their meanings are as follows:

SUNDAY: The Sun, in honor of the sun god.
MONDAY: The moon, in honor of the moon god.
TUESDAY: The planet Mars, in honor of the god, Mars. The Saxons named this day after their god, Tiw, and called it Tiw's day. "Tuesday" comes from the name of this Saxon god.
WEDNESDAY: The planet Mercury, later named in honor of the Teutonic god, Wedn, or Woden.
THURSDAY: The planet Jupiter, later named in honor of the Teutonic god, Thor.
FRIDAY: The planet Venus, later named in honor of the Teutonic goddess, Frigg, or Freia.
SATURDAY: The planet Saturn, in honor of the Roman god, Saturn.

How did this planetary week come to be so commonly used in the professing Christian world? The early Christians had continued God's seven-day week with its numbered weekdays, but by the close of the third century A.D. this began to give way to the planetary week.

This planetary week with its days named after pagan deities is not of God. God Almighty did create the week with seven days, but He merely numbered the days one through seven (Gen: 1; 2:1-3). The only day He named was the seventh day. He called this day "Sabbath" which means rest (Ex. 16:22-26), (Ex. 20:8-11).

Christ's Return - Timing | ↑ top
God has revealed to His Church the exact timing for the return of Jesus Christ, which is on Pentecost (May 27) of 2012. Although others have stated that an end-time will occur in 2012, they do not understand what this involves, and there are important reasons why they believe as they do, but it is not because God revealed the truth of the matter to them. A few have even figured out that there are exactly 1335 days (a prophecy in Daniel 12) from Trumpets of 2008 to Pentecost of 2012, but this was not the result of a revelation from God to His people. The explanations given by such individuals are filled with false teachings and false interpretations of other prophecies they push upon others.

The actual date and revelation from God concerning the time of the "Sealing of the 144,000" on the Feast of Trumpets of 2008, is fully unique to only God's true Church. The full understanding of the completion of God's work over the past 6,000 years concerning His firstfruits (the 144,000), and their final number being sealed on Trumpets of 2008 and their resurrection 1335 days later, is a truth given to only God's true Church.

Satan knows we are in the end-time. He knows his time is nearly up. However, he does not fully know the details or exact timing of events, so he has moved others (not God's people who are led by God's spirit) to write many things and make many predictions, and many of them concern the timeframe of 2012. Satan knows that God is precise in all that He does, so Satan has focused on different dates that fall on God's Holy Days, as well as at other times. Somewhere along the line he was bound to hit on the right time, and in this case, he has finally done so. But you must understand that a person who was moved by Satan to write such things is not of God and does not teach the truth from God, but has built his reasoning around falsehoods and lies about the word of God.

Some authors have just gotten lucky on the day they picked out, as numerous dates for the end-time have been suggested over the centuries. Many different organizations and "religious" people have believed that God's Kingdom is coming and they have picked different dates (through time) revolving around God's Holy Days (which occur every year), and sooner or later someone was bound to land on the correct date. There are others who were actually moved by Satan (who knows his time on earth ends in 2012). These include matters of the Mayan calendar ending in 2012 and the ideas of Nostradamus concerning 2012 (who were not of God, nor led by God). The point being is that those ideas of 2012 have not come from God, nor have been revealed by Him.

Some individuals have come up with ideas of a false prophet and an abomination of desolation that would be revealed on SePt 30, 2008, and then they used the 1335 days (concerning the ideas about an abomination of desolation that are incorrect) in Daniel 12 to move forward to an annual Holy Day of God which is Pentecost 2012. They are wrong in all their reasoning about an abomination of desolation and their understanding of Daniel is fully false (not true Biblically and not from God). They just happened to get lucky (or perhaps were influenced from a spirit world) on plugging in the dates from Trumpets of 2008. What God has given to His Church is true and it is revealed from Him through His Son Jesus Christ to His end-time prophet.

Church of God-PKG - Armstrong connection | ↑ top
The Church of God-PKG is a continuation of the Church that God and Jesus Christ started on the day of Pentecost in 31 AD. The Church has operated under different organizational names which all carried the name “Church of God.” Mr. Armstrong was the Elijah to come as stated in Malachi 4:5 and operated under the organizational name of the “Worldwide Church of God.” The Church of God-PKG continues in the truth that was restored through Herbert W Armstrong.

Church of God - PKG - Permission to use materials | ↑ top
We appreciate the desire some have to post (copy and advertise) pictures of the books or other written material from our websites (on personal sites, blogs, etc.), but due to far too many legal matters associated with such requests (and other potential complications), we cannot give such permission. What seems to work best, without all the complications, is for people who desire to do so, they can post a link to the book or Church site in order to help others receive the message these contain.

People do have permission to copy all materials, as they are written, and distribute them to those who are interested in reading it.

Church of God-PKG – Who we are | ↑ top
The subject of who is the Church of God-PKG is best understood by seeking God's guidance and revelation about His own Church. God and His Son, Jesus Christ, can only reveal the true Church of God. This is a spiritual matter and not one of human logic, study, intellect, or past knowledge.

The Church of God-PKG is not "Ron Weinland's" Church. It is God's Church. We do not have "membership" in a Church. One is either baptized into the Body of Christ, the true Church of God (which is spiritual), or not. If a person has the impregnation of God's spirit (begotten of God's spirit) and has not been cut off from the flow of God's spirit into their life, then such a person is IN God's Church.

As far as the physical organization of the Church of God - PKG, it is just that - a physical organization that receives the tithes of God's people and uses such to teach and lead those whom God has called (or is calling) and pays all other expenses associated with doing the work God has given to His Church to accomplish.

Citizenship in a nation | ↑ top
Since there are people who misunderstand, find fault with, and falsely accuse God's Church, some jump to false conclusions or simply misrepresent the teaching and doctrine of the Church. When this is done, such people often attempt to compare God's Church to weird sects or cults that have very distorted and unbiblical teachings.

One such area of false accusation concerns the comparison of God's Church to militaristic groups who stockpile weapons and survival supplies as a kind of preparation to withstand governmental authorities if they try to intrude on their religious rights.

The Church of God – PKG teaches that all who follow the teachings of the Church should be law-abiding citizens and that all are to support and cooperate with law enforcement agencies. God's people are supportive and thankful for the difficult job law enforcement people have to help make communities safe for everyone. The Church is very vocal in such matters and it strongly teaches good citizenship in every community and with every level of government in whatever nation they live. The Church teaches against the use of any weapons toward others, even in what some would consider self-defense (See “Protection” in this “Topics” section).

The Church of God – PKG understands that the world is entering a time of great upheaval and war during the final three and one-half years before Jesus Christ returns. If a country is conquered by an invading army, God's people are not to resist or fight against such military powers, but they are to be good citizens of whatever government they are in subjection (as prophecy for this time reveals that no power can prevent this). No one wants to live in a nation that is under a foreign government due to the siege of its military powers, but those things are going to happen - they are prophesied to happen extensively over this whole earth.

Yes, God's Church does teach the need to have a reserve of supplies such as water, food, health care, and other necessary items when a regional disaster does occur. Many local, state, and national agencies support the same thing. We highly recommend that people have a two to three month supply of goods, since there will be times that supplies will be scarce. Many are encouraged by government agencies to prepare for a possible pandemic or other disasters when there will be extended periods of isolation or quarantine. This is a simple matter of basic wisdom.

God's Church does discourage people from trying to stockpile for longer periods of time and from moving to remote locations (or other regions of the world) because of the end-time prophecies that are going to be fulfilled during this final three and one-half years before Jesus Christ returns. Instead, God's Church teaches the need to repent and draw close to God in obedience to His ways of life, in a genuine desire for growing in a personal relationship with Almighty God. God's people understand that only God can deliver them and their loved ones through the time of tribulation that we have now entered and that such deliverance cannot be accomplished by our own efforts.

During the final three and one-half years of tribulation, God's people are taught to render aid and physical support (whenever possible) to those who may be suffering in their community from the destruction that comes. When destruction and disaster strikes an area where anyone lives, God's Church teaches that people are to sacrifice to render help and aid to others, even if such things involve God's Sabbaths. We are entering times that are not normal for this earth and there will be much suffering. Anyone who lives by God's way of life will always render aid to any who are suffering (if they are able), whether they be friend or enemy.

Conspiracy Theories | ↑ top
There are many conspiracy theories in the world. They allege that the bankers, Jews, CFR, Trilateral Commission, Illuminati, Masons, Bilderbergers, the Order, and/or any of a number of other groups are conspiring to control or take over the world.

The Church of God does not believe a person will benefit from studying into such conspiracy writings or theories. These theories (and they are just that, theories) contradict both Biblical prophecy and historical facts. They appear to be the devices of Satan as they offer supposed “hidden” knowledge by which people are led away from God's truth. Studying these theories is a waste of valuable time that should be spent in studying God's word - the truth. By focusing in on what is true, one will reveal the error of man's ways.

Indeed, “power centers” do exist within business, political, and economic organizations around the world. All segments of our society are subject and responsible for their national woes, sickness and immorality. The one behind it all is the master deceiver, Satan the devil, whose goal is to thwart the plan of God. As Rev 12: 9 says, “So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.”

But the bottom line is that there is no government, organization, or secret group that will succeed in controlling events in this world in order to bring about any lasting change that they seek to accomplish through their efforts. The truth is, we are at the very end of man's self-rule on this earth, and even Satan's rule is about to end. The government of God is coming to this earth on May 27, 2012. Nothing and no one can stop this from taking place!

Dating | ↑ top
The Church of God encourages single people to follow spiritual principles when dating. Some of these principles include the following: avoid the appearance of evil (do not give others the idea that you could be sinning), avoid placing yourself or the other person in a position that could cause you or them personal temptation, dress in a moderate way so as not to provoke attention. It is always best to meet and enjoy each others' company in a public forum. The Church of God always encourages group dating so that a person can interact with everyone.

The practice of "living together" and/or having a sexual relationship before marriage is sin. Such fornication only produces wrong results in the lives of such people who practice it. Genuine happiness, trust, faithfulness, and true unity can never be reached by such practices that conflict with the laws of God.

Dinosaurs | ↑ top
God created the universe and the earth millions of years ago. Dinosaurs also existed millions of years ago along with other plant life on the earth. God placed the earth and its care under the rule of a spirit being named Lucifer. When Lucifer rebelled (his name then changed to Satan) against his Creator, along with a 1/3rd of the angelic realm, all physical life was destroyed which included the dinosaurs. Their bones have been found spread out all over the earth and are dated as being millions of years old.

Dreams and Visions | ↑ top
The Bible reveals that in times past servants of God were given visions and dreams for specific reasons and to convey a special message. Today, God speaks to His people through the Bible and His true ministry. Most visions and dreams that people have are simply caused by mental or physical stress (Eccl 5:3). Sometimes Satan can cause a dream, vision or emotional sensation.

When someone has a dream, vision or a physical sensation, they are just that, a dream, vision or physical sensation. One should not read into these dreams, visions or experiences that God is involved or that He is communicating to them, as He is not. God does not work this way. God teaches the truth through His true ministry and reveals the truth to a person's mind by the power of His spirit.

Fellowship | ↑ top
True fellowship is a spiritual matter. God's Church is not like other churches in the world. Most teach that you can come "just as you are." This is a false teaching, as you cannot come into true fellowship "just as you are" in what you "think" is right before God. If one knows what is right already, then they do not need God's Church.

Jesus Christ paid for the penalty of sin by being our Passover. One cannot fully receive that Passover sacrifice until baptism in God's true Church. It is through baptism that you can have sin forgiven. God begins drawing us to His truth which in turn finally leads to the one true baptism in life. He gives those He calls the opportunity, through grace, to come into fellowship in His Church, if that person does begin to respond to Him in sincerity and truth.

Yes, there are requirements one must be living before being able to come into fellowship with others in God's Church, with those in whom His spirit dwells. One must be applying what God has given in the FAQ section of the website. If people perceive God and His Church as "elitist" then that is their choice, but the fact is God does place conditions upon us if we truly desire His true ways of life. The keeping of the seventh day Sabbath (in the way it is outlined on the FAQ) is a good example. If people are not willing to obey God in such basic ways, then they cannot be invited to be in fellowship with His Church.

A person is called into fellowship (communion) with God the Father and His son Jesus Christ. To be in fellowship with God, a person must be living in the light (truth) and have God's spirit dwelling in them. If this is the case, a person can now have true fellowship with the brethren, those in who God dwells because they are of the same mind.

Funerals | ↑ top
The choice to attend a funeral is a personal choice that each individual must make.

The reason this question arises is because of concerns people sometimes have due to the fact that a false minister is performing the funeral (and such questions are often asked concerning weddings as well), or because of the ceremony that is conducted in some church building of a false religion. The question also arises from concerns about whether it is permissible to attend such functions on God's weekly Sabbath.

The decision is fully the choice and responsibility of the person who has to make it. Such a decision should not be prematurely made as the result of pressure one feels from outside sources such as family, nor from pressure one may feel from others in God's Church who have their own "opinions" about such matters. The decision should be made as a result of one's best judgment based on seeking to be in harmony with sound principles and a true relationship with God.

The fact that a false minister is conducting the service should have no real bearing on such a decision since we have understanding that the whole world is deceived and we can easily separate that which is true from that which is false. The primary consideration of attending either a funeral or a wedding conducted by a false minister (or even in a building of false religious system) is that one does not participate in any part of the service that is a function of that false religion. Some religions incorporate prayers in their service in which we do not bow our heads, kneel, say "amen," nor participate in any fashion. Some incorporate the taking of communion and other practices in which we do not involve ourselves. We simply remain as inconspicuous as possible while present at such function, but without participation.

Sometimes the personal choice becomes more difficult when God's Sabbath is included in the judgment. The first and most important consideration is that one listens to the Sabbath sermon given on that day. In some cases, if one is not able to easily tune into the "live service," then at least some previous sermon could be listened to on the Sabbath.

The attendance at a wedding on the Sabbath should be minimized as much as possible (only the time of the actual ceremony if possible). One should not be present during any "party" or "festive" time that includes an atmosphere of excessive drinking and/or dancing. Also, one should consider the closeness of the actual family relationship.

The attendance at a funeral can be more pressing and more needful when it comes to family. Often times family relations are strained because of a person's commitment to God and His Church. There may be family members who reject you and cut you off because of your belief. One should consider the lack of wisdom to add to that family strain by not attending, giving the appearance that you no longer care about the family and have no respect for family members. A show of genuine love and concern for family in such difficult times is a matter of wisdom and example that may indeed play a part in some being softened in their hardness toward you and the Church in the near future.

Jesus Christ - was not a Nazarite | ↑ top
During the time that people were Nazarites, they (men or women) weren't to shave or cut their hair. They weren't to touch any dead body. They weren't to consume any wine. Neither were they to drink grape juice. Grapes, either fresh or dried, weren't to be eaten (Numbers 6:1-8). These were "signs" of their special service.

Many people have believed that Jesus Christ was a Nazarite because he was raised in Nazareth, a town in the district of Galilee about seventy miles north of Jerusalem. This is not true. People who come from or who are in Nazareth are called Nazarenes. They aren't Nazarites unless they have taken the Nazarite vow. Christ was not a Nazarite. He drank wine (Matthew 11:19). If He had been a Nazarite, he could not have drank wine without sinning.

Some who believe Jesus was a Nazarite mistakenly claim that the wine Jesus drank was grape juice - but even grape juice was forbidden to Nazarites!

Because of assuming that Christ was a Nazarite, many people have believed that he had long hair flowing down to his shoulders. Christ didn't have long hair! Pagan artists, trying to make Jesus look pious, gave him a sick, sad, effeminate appearance, and in their vain imagination they even went so far as to add long hair.

Christ was a hard-working carpenter who ate only clean foods and observed the laws of good health. We know he was a very masculine man with physical strength and endurance. Because he loved all people, he was a sociable, friendly, cheerful person who was thoughtful of others and courteous at all times. What matters most, however, is what Christ is like now. Hebrews 1:2-4 and Revelation 1:12-16 tell us of Christ's present power and appearance.

Mark of the Beast – Number of the Beast 666 | ↑ top
The beast rising up out of the earth (Rev 13:11-18) is the great whore, the false church (the Roman Catholic Church) that rides and has powerful influence, and often, full control over the government (Holy Roman Empire). The mark of the beast is a religious mark, not a governmental mark such as a Social Security number, or a National Identity number. Those who receive the mark of the beast will suffer the corrective plagues of God's Judgment and are contrasted with the saints, those who are keeping God's commandments. Therefore, the mark has something to do with commandment breaking.

A mark is an identifying sign or brand. One group is forced to bear the sign, brand, or mark of the beast to work or buy or sell. Keeping the fourth commandment, the Sabbath, is a sign, mark, or brand that identifies God's people (Ex 31: 12-17). God's commandments, especially the fourth, are a sign on the hands (actions/work) and forehead (thinking/belief) of those who keep them. The mark of the beast is the enforced observance of Sunday and Satan's holidays instead of God's Sabbaths and Holy days.

Rev 13:17-18 tells us to count (compute) the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man, and his number is 666. These verses are saying the beast has a number and it may be identified. The expression “the name of the beast,” or “the number of his name” makes plain that the number 666 is the number of the name of the kingdom or empire. The expression “it is the number of a man” shows we must also count this number in the name of the king, or ruler, over the kingdom identified as the “beast.”

The beast is the Roman Empire. It was named after Romulas, the founder and first king of Rome. His name, the name of a man, also is the name of the kingdom. Every citizen in the kingdom bears the same name – a Roman. The apostle John wrote the book of Revelation in Greek. Therefore, we should count in Greek, not in Latin.

This name, in Greek, is “Lateinos.” It means “Latin Man” or “the name of Latium,” from which region the Romans derived their origin and their language. In Greek, L=30, A=1, T=300, E=5, I=10, N=50, O=70, and S=200. They add up to 666. For 1260 years the pope has reigned and ruled over the beast. They were in effect, the religious heads of the empire, ruling over the emperors, as well as over the church.

Marriage | ↑ top
A marital union involves one of the most important decisions a person will make in their entire lifetime. Therefore marriage should not be entered hastily, but with sound planning and consideration. When contemplating any marriage one must consider personality, intellect, cultural background, upbringing, character, financial habits, and even views on such matters as child rearing. The most important thing to consider is the person's religious beliefs. In short, a wise marriage is one in which each partner complements, rather than competes with the other.

Due to some cultures and religions that have racial bias, it needs to be stated that the Church of God does not view interracial marriage as sin.

No man knows the hour | ↑ top
When Daniel enquired to know about the events that were to happen in the end-time, which God had just given him to write about (Daniel 12), God told him that he was not to know since the words he was given to write were closed up and sealed until the time of the end. It is obvious that God would reveal the meaning of the words to his prophets at a later date prior to Jesus Christ's return.

The scripture that states, “No man knows the hour,” was true 1900 years ago. Since this statement, Jesus Christ has ascended to heaven and has been appointed the Head of the True Church of God. Jesus Christ was accounted worthy to open the Seals as written in the Book of Revelation. We are now at the time of the end as stated in Daniel. Jesus Christ has revealed to His Church the timing of the opening of the seals and the day of His return as King of kings. And God Himself states, “Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7).

Pandemic | ↑ top
Due to the understanding we have about pandemics becoming more of a reality in this end-time, it is necessary to address a few matters relating to this subject.

The current strain of the H1N1 flu has rapidly spread throughout the world, but currently it is not as serious as many other flu strains of the past. The uniqueness of this strain is that it is especially dangerous to people with other ongoing health problems and weaknesses, and it is proving to be more dangerous to the young. This strain has proven to be one that replicates more easily in the lungs and can spread beyond the upper respiratory tract to go deep into the lungs, making it more likely to cause pneumonia.

God does address the matter of sickness and the principles of quarantine in scripture. The act of voluntarily quarantining ourselves from others when we have a communicable illness is simply the principle and expression of love. Love toward others should always include concern for their welfare and their protection when we are sick, especially when running a temperature, experiencing flu-like symptoms, coughing, etc., that might be passed along to another person.

In addition, if a serious pandemic does strike one’s own environment, the individual will have to make a personal decision to quarantine oneself from others (such as crowds, work, etc.) if their personal environment becomes too dangerous to be mixing within it. This is a personal judgment each individual will have to make. Such decisions may have to be made for self-protection or the desire to protect one’s family from possibly catching a sickness that could potentially prove fatal.

Although the current strain of H1N1 is only primarily dangerous to a narrow group of people, it is never-the-less very serious to those within that group. Out of love we should exercise the right principles of quarantine if they apply to us.

There are two main concerns with H1N1 at this time. The first is that this flu may become a far more serious problem in the northern hemisphere when the colder season begins to set in. The summer months have highly curtailed the potential for the spreading of this strain, prohibiting it from becoming far more widespread. However, this flu has been spreading more rapidly in the southern hemisphere where they are experiencing the colder seasons, and so the threat of it spreading rampantly in the winter months in the northern hemisphere is high.

The second and more serious concern is that this strain could mutate into an extremely deadly strain and do so very quickly. The potential for this is great, and with the time we live in it is likely. Even if this does not occur, a completely new strain will emerge that will prove to be much more fatal.

Although a person can apply all the principles of quarantine to the best of one’s physical ability, this does not guarantee that a person will be prevented from catching a communicable illness or from passing one along to others. We are to use wisdom (depending upon our own environment) and seek God’s help in all such matters. Following instruction that God gives should be first and foremost in our lives.

Compulsory vaccinations: Along with pandemics there is the likelihood of some governments enforcing compulsory vaccinations. Some will argue pros and cons to such vaccinations, but inevitably it is the responsibility of each individual to make his or her own personal decision in the matter. There can be great risk to receiving vaccinations and obviously there can be great risk in potentially catching a true pandemic illness when it strikes. In all decisions we make, we always place God first and look to Him as our provider and protector.

If a government enforces vaccinations in a time of pandemic, and you essentially no longer have free choice, then you do not change from your position of trusting in God for your protection. In such a case you will simply be trusting in God to protect you from any harm that could come from any potential risk of such a vaccination. Trusting in God for safety and protection from pandemic or from the risk of vaccination is still a matter of placing God first in your life.

Passover Observance | ↑ top
Non-baptized people are not to keep the annual Passover service on Passover night as it is only for those who have been baptized into the one true Church of God. Refer to Exodus 12:43-48. God does require a non-baptized person to keep the annual 7 days of Unleavened Bread. Two of these days are High Days (annual Sabbaths), the 1st Day of Unleavened Bread and the last day of Unleavened Bread. A person must eat unleavened bread each day for 7 days. All other clean foods can be eaten other than leavened bread products during this time.

Phenomenon - UFO sightings - Bleeding statues, etc. | ↑ top
Although there are many theories that have been put forward in efforts to explain Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO's) and other phenomena, most simply deny the truth revealed in God's word about the existence of a Spirit World. God has allowed Satan and his demons to deceive the whole world: “So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him” (Rev 12:9).

Part of that deception is the concept of aliens and the sightings of UFO's. Sightings of UFO's are simply perverted manifestations that Satan uses to deceive and to draw people away from the truth of God and His plan of salvation for all mankind. The bleeding statues have NO association with God or His Son, Jesus Christ. In fact, this phenomenon has been associated to tricks of men or demons intent on deceiving mankind.

Satan and demons have the power to produce various levels of visible phenomena, and often times to influence dreams and partial visions in/to some people.

Prophet – proof of | ↑ top
The belief that Ronald Weinland is indeed God's end time prophet and one of the two witnesses can only be given from God. For 25 years, Ronald Weinland has been a minister in God's Church. In 1998, God made him a prophet for this end-time. His responsibility, as a prophet, is to reveal the meaning of prophecies that God has preserved for this time now. As the events written in the book 2008 God's Final Witness unfold, the world will increasingly become aware of the authenticity of the words in the book and realize that Ronald Weinland has been sent by God as His end-time prophet. Prophecies are understood and revealed through revelation to the mind by the power of God's Holy Spirit.

Protection – Self defense | ↑ top
(See “Citizenship in a nation” in this Topics section) Some people have asked if they can defend themselves from physical violence. Self-defense is justified, but the taking of life in that process is not! It is just that simple. If you are God's and your life is in His hands (and you are faithful and obedient to Him), you will find that God will protect you from such matters. If something were to happen, then you must determine how far you would go in self-defense and what limitations you have to place on yourself. The point being, you are to place your full life into God's hands. That is your protection and your strength. It is not in what you can do to deliver yourself and your family.

Protection - What should I do? | ↑ top
People from all walks of life are having their eyes opened by God to see and believe what is written in the book 2008 Gods Final Witness. Some people are asking, “What should I do?” Whether or not they should move location is a common concern, along with how to prepare for what is coming. There is no place on earth that will not suffer from the destruction that is coming. Therefore, there is no place to flee that can be considered “safe.” The most important thing any person can do to prepare for what is coming and/or survive the final tribulation is to repent and draw close to God.

God can protect a person no matter their physical situation or location. You need to rely on God to lead, guide and direct you. The most important thing to do is to submit to God in obedience. If you are genuinely seeking a relationship with the one true God, you should begin by following the steps set out in the FAQ section of Seeking A Response.

Concerning a husband and wife relationship, for at least 30 years the Church has taught that only those things which both a husband and wife are in agreement and comfortable with in a sexual relationship is permissible. One should not push the other to do something with which they are not comfortable (mentally) or in agreement. Certainly this does not mean people should involve themselves in perverted acts.

Timeline Questions Answered | ↑ top
God has revealed that there is a separation between the opening of the Seventh Seal and the start of the Great Tribulation. God reveals the truth progressively and will continue to do so through His end-time prophets: “Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7).

1335 Days: The sealing of the 144,000 that will make up the Government of God at Christ's return in 2012 took place on September 30th, 2008, and 45 days later we arrived at 1290 days.

1290 Days: The Seventh Seal was opened on the 14th of November, 2008, which signified an end to the abomination of desolation that has been working in God's Church. This marks the beginning of an awakening for spiritual Israel - the final remnant of the Church of God that was scattered (those baptized before December 1994 - approximately 3000), and will continue right up until the return of Jesus Christ. 30 days later we arrived at 1260 days.

1260 Days: The blowing of the First Trumpet occurred on the 14th of December, 2008. That day was the beginning of the final 3 1/2 years that will eventually escalate into WW III and end at the return of Jesus Christ on Pentecost of 2012. From the start of this final 1260 days, the process began that will lead to the complete collapse of the USA and the other Israelite countries. The Second, Third, and Fourth Trumpet will occur in God's timing, and the combination of these first four trumpets will bring about that complete collapse. God will reveal more about these events, in His time, to His two end-time prophets (and two end-time witnesses) whose job began at the start of this final 1260 days.

The only way a person can understand this timeline is by revelation given by God. The Church of God knows the date of Jesus Christ's return because of the timing of the opening of the seals and the revealed truths contained in the annual Holy Days.

Tithing, 1st | ↑ top
A tithe is that which involves a person's obedience to God in giving God His tithe (10 percent) of income. This is a tithe of one's net income (after taxes). Tithing is not required for those who are full-time students, receiving government assistance, receiving insurance disability, receiving unemployment, etc.

Taxes are not in our control, but belong to the government to which we are all subject. We have no power over that portion of our income that is taken as taxes, and Jesus Christ said to give to Caesar what is Caesar's. We are responsible for what is under our control and management. God's tithes are sent to God's true Church. (Church of God-PKG, P.O. Box 14447, Cincinnati, OH 45250 U.S.A.) For those who are desiring to tithe and are located outside of the USA, you can email the church at: thecofg@aol.com. We will then provide you the correct banking details for your country. Each country handles tithes slightly differently.

Tithing, 2nd Explained | ↑ top
The second tithe is an additional tithe of one's net income and is saved by the individual each year for use in joyously observing God's Holy Days. Instruction concerning this tithe is found in Deuteronomy 14:22-26. This 2nd tithe is used primarily to keep the Feast of Tabernacles which is outlined in Leviticus 23, but it can also be used to come together in fellowship during the Passover season as well as during Pentecost.

The Feast of Tabernacles is an annual festival during which the whole church has typically come together in specific, appointed locations where large numbers of members have been able to worship and rejoice before God during this period of time.

In the Feast of 2008, primarily due to the growth of the Church by nearly 300% over the preceding eight months, the traditional observation was changed. Our inability to adequately organize a large Feast observance, as we had traditionally done in the past, led to the need to improvise while keeping obedience to God as our first objective. Many new people did not have the financial ability to attend a larger organized Feast due to the fact that they, as new members shortly prior to the feast, had not kept 2nd tithe for the entire previous year. Therefore, the Feast was organized in a new manner. Half of the Feast was observed in the homes of members and the other half in regional areas located closer to members than was traditionally done in the past. The reduced travel, with reduced funds, enabled people to better stretch their available finances to observe part of the Feast with other members.

During half of the Feast, members and families remained in their own areas. They observed the Feast in a similar manner as they might observe the weekly Sabbath from their homes if they were unable to gather with a local congregation on the Sabbath. In this manner, they were able to listen to the sermons given on each day of the Feast just as they would be able to listen on a weekly Sabbath.

During the other half of the Feast, most members were able to come together in fellowship with others in regional areas located closer to them (rather than larger, more distant locations as in the past). This overall change in the traditional observation of the Feast enabled a larger number to come together to rejoice before God in the Feast of Tabernacles, although in scattered locations.

This change also enabled many long time members to share larger portions of their normal 2nd tithe with others whom God is calling into the millennial reign of Jesus Christ that is pictured by the Feast of Tabernacles itself. For three months after the Feast of 2008, all members sent in a portion of their 2nd tithe in order to continue helping in the calling of new people into the new millennial period that is now coming.

Beginning in February of 2009, all members have been asked to stop sending in any portion of their 2nd tithe in order to keep it for the observance of any of God's annual holy days that some or most may yet have the ability to observe. Since the revelation of the 50th Truth, the fulfillment of all things has moved forward by eight months. God has not revealed the specific timing or exact location for the actual fulfillment of the destruction that will result from the blowing of the Second, Third and Fourth Trumpets. How future events affect the ability to observe holy days is not now known, so we will seek to be as wisely prepared as we can be for any eventuality.

Underage Teens | ↑ top
Many young people are choosing to obey God as a result of the truth they are learning from the Church of God. It is a good thing that you have such desire.

For teens who are legally under age, we encourage you to inform your parents of your desire to live God's way of life that you are beginning to learn. Nothing should be hidden from them, and especially in a matter like this, since there are many weird religions available on the Internet, as well as others who seek to take advantage of young people.

It is right and proper before God that you be open and honest with your parents. A young person is to honor their father and mother (Ex. 20), and this means being truthful to them as well. Your parents may not agree with your newfound beliefs about God, especially since most parents have always believed such things as Sunday, Christmas and Easter observances. Although you may feel or even know that they will not agree with you, you still owe it to them to be truthful.

When you share your beliefs with them, such as wanting to be obedient to the Sabbaths of God, and they disagree, then you will have to decide how you are going to honor God the best way you can under such circumstances, until the time you are legally of age and able to pursue your own faith and beliefs in God. Without permission from your parents, you will not be able to receive more help from the Church than what is offered on the website.

All people with Internet service have access to the Church website and have much information they can read and study, as well as have the ability to listen to sermons Sabbath-to-Sabbath and on the Holy Days. We encourage you to continue learning all that you can and to hold fast to what is true through the difficult times that are in front of us over the next few years.

To the best of your ability, you should follow the instructions given on the “FAQ” section of the website. Some teens are asking about baptism, but the usual minimum age for accountability is 18, therefore people cannot be baptized until at least this age.

Understanding Scripture | ↑ top
Only God can give a person the ability to see the truth and to correctly understand a scripture spiritually. The way God reveals truth to the mind is by the power of His holy spirit. God's spirit is given when a person is called to repentance, been baptized and had the laying on of hands by a true minister of the Church of God. Therefore, without God's spirit a person cannot come to understand the truth. Without Gods spirit, one can only see scriptures in the light of their current false religious understanding and beliefs.

Unpardonable Sin | ↑ top
Scripture states that blasphemy against the holy spirit is an unpardonable sin (Mat. 12:31-32). This scripture must be read with the understanding that the holy spirit is not a person in the Godhead, but it is the very power of the one true God. It is this power that a person can become impregnated with (begotten of God) after baptism and the laying on of hands. Once one is begotten of God's spirit, God reveals that He and His Son then begin to dwell in (abide in/ live in) that person. This is the very reason Jesus Christ died. He died in order for mankind to be forgiven of sin, so that He and His Father could begin to spiritually dwell in those who are begotten of God.

After someone has been begotten of God, and He and His Son begin to dwell in him or her, then that person begins to grow spiritually. If that person sins, then because of that new covenant agreement that was made at baptism, they are to repent quickly, as God cannot dwell with/in sin. That is why Christ died as our Passover, so that sin can be forgiven and then God can dwell in us.

If a person comes to the point that they refuse to repent, then they become in danger of the unpardonable sin (sin not repented of and therefore cannot be forgiven). If that person cannot be brought to repentance through the grace and mercy of God at work in his or her life, then they have committed the unpardonable sin and will suffer the penalty of eternal death (never to be resurrected to life). This is the final penalty for all who refuse to repent of sin, which is an eternal punishment (not being eternally punished).

God's desire for all is that every person repents of sin. As long as a person responds to the mercy, patience, and love of God to be able to repent of sin, then such a person will want God to dwell in them so that he or she can grow spiritually and eventually become part of God's Kingdom.

Hebrews 6:4-6 refers to a converted person (someone who has been called, repented, been baptised, and received the Holy Spirit by the laying of hands) who knowingly and intentionally rejects the truth once delivered and denies God and Jesus Christ to live (dwell/abide) in them. This is not a person who through neglect or deception went to sleep spiritually which was prophesied to happen to the Church.

The Bible warns that people will witness miracles and supernatural phenomena which will mislead them. We also find a biblical example of this kind of false miracle in 1 Samuel 28: 7-20. King Saul believed the dead prophet Samuel appeared, giving him a message, but it was really an evil spirit impersonating Samuel!

How do we know that Mary did not actually appear from heaven? The Bible reveals that the righteous dead remain in their graves until the resurrection at Christ's return (1Corinthians 15:22-23, 50-54; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17; Hebrews 11:39-40). Mary is still awaiting the resurrection and cannot appear to anyone. No one has ascended to heaven but Jesus Christ only (John 3:13; Acts 2:34).

Yahweh Elohim | ↑ top
(See also “Jesus Christ the Son of God” in this Topics section)

You may or may not have difficulty understanding a major area of change in doctrine that you will need to address if you are one of those scattered from the Worldwide Church of God. The understanding of who Yahweh Elohim is was something that God simply did not give to Mr. Armstrong. This understanding was reserved for now to primarily make a distinction in where God is working in this end-time, and where He is not working in the more than 500 splinter groups that became organized out of WCG.

You will find this in the seventh chapter of the second book, 2008 God's Final Witness. In addition, you can listen to all the sermons given at the Feast of Tabernacles in 2005. When you go to these sermons, it is best that you start with the first one and work your way through them.
